| Common Name | (3S,3'S,5R,5'R,6R,6'R)-5,5',6,6'-Tetrahydro-3,3',5,5',6,6'-hexahydroxy-beta,beta-carotene |
|---|
| Description | (1S,2R,4S)-2,6,6-trimethyl-1-[(1E,3E,5E,7E,9Z,13E,15E,17E)-3,7,12,16-tetramethyl-18-[(1R,2R,4S)-1,2,4-trihydroxy-2,6,6-trimethylcyclohexyl]octadeca-1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15,17-nonaen-1-yl]cyclohexane-1,2,4-triol belongs to the class of organic compounds known as xanthophylls. These are carotenoids containing an oxygenated carotene backbone. Carotenes are characterized by the presence of two end-groups (mostly cyclohexene rings, but also cyclopentene rings or acyclic groups) linked by a long branched alkyl chain. Carotenes belonging form a subgroup of the carotenoids family. Xanthophylls arise by oxygenation of the carotene backbone. (3S,3'S,5R,5'R,6R,6'R)-5,5',6,6'-Tetrahydro-3,3',5,5',6,6'-hexahydroxy-beta,beta-carotene is found in Mactra chinensis . Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on (1S,2R,4S)-2,6,6-trimethyl-1-[(1E,3E,5E,7E,9Z,13E,15E,17E)-3,7,12,16-tetramethyl-18-[(1R,2R,4S)-1,2,4-trihydroxy-2,6,6-trimethylcyclohexyl]octadeca-1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15,17-nonaen-1-yl]cyclohexane-1,2,4-triol. |
